ARTIST STATEMENT

Working in public space through street art, large-scale painting, and site-specific projects.

Artist’s PRATICE

Cuboliquido is an independent visual artist who has been working in public space for nearly thirty years, moving across street art, large-scale painted interventions, and site-specific collaborations. Over time, he has developed a distinctive visual language based on visual illusion and on the relationship between image, space, and point of view, now widely recognized within contemporary street art.

His artistic path originates from the street and from direct engagement with places and people. Working in a wide range of contexts, both in Italy and internationally, has allowed him to build a flexible and conscious approach, capable of adapting to different spaces, cultures, and audiences while maintaining strong artistic coherence.

Throughout the years, he has received significant international recognition and has participated in major festivals, biennials, and competitions across multiple countries. Alongside a small group of artists, he is regarded as one of the pioneers in introducing anamorphic art into contemporary street art.

Cuboliquido’s projects always begin with close attention to context—urban, architectural, and social. His works are conceived to be experienced, traversed, and shared, creating moments of wonder and collective participation. Influenced by pop culture, iconic design, and contemporary imagery, his practice often employs play as a tool for engaging with history, culture, and social values. Each intervention is conceived as a collaboration with the context and the people who inhabit it.

Artist’s Note

My practice has developed primarily through direct work in public space, where each project becomes an opportunity to explore perception, movement, and shared experience. I am interested in how images can activate spaces, invite people to change their point of view, and transform ordinary environments into moments of collective discovery.

Drawing, painting, and visual illusion are tools I use to build a dialogue between image and place. The work often includes playful elements, allowing different audiences to engage with it on multiple levels, without requiring prior knowledge. What matters to me is not illusion as a technical exercise, but its ability to create encounters—between people, spaces, and ways of seeing.

Each project grows from the specific context in which it takes place and from the experience of working directly on site. The act of painting becomes part of the work itself: a visible process that connects image, space, and audience into a shared moment, where perception is questioned and imagination is activated. His artistic path originates from the street and from direct engagement with places and people.
